Abstract:
»This article aims to develop an analysis of a Defloration Case File from the year 1885, part of the historical collection of São Paulo Court of Justice (TJSP), based on a conservative transcription of the Forensic Examination Report, the Questioning Report, and the sentence contained in the case file. Through this analysis, the objective is to present, via a philological methodology, a sexual crime defined in Articles 219 to 225 of the 1830 Penal Code: defloration. Furthermore, it seeks to conceptualize the main characteristics of this offense and the way it is represented in the selected document. The woman representation in these records is taken as a basis to construct the popular imaginary of the poor woman in late 19th-century São Paulo. This research is part of activities related to the Cooperation Agreement established between the São Paulo Court of Justice and the University of São Paulo.«
